A Sugary and Super Juicy “Apple Pear”

You get the best of both fruits. Once you smell the tempting fragrance of the Yoinashi, you’ll know it’s a pear. Yet, like an apple, the outside of the fruit is crisp, firm and round. Unlike some European pears, this Asian pear isn’t coarse; it’s incredibly juicy and smooth. There’s a reason they call Asian pears “apple pears!”

The flavor is perfectly warm and sweet. The Yoinashi Asian Pear has a taste reminiscent of butterscotch and brown sugar. The crisp and smooth texture is perfect for summer, while the warm, inviting taste pairs perfectly with fall and winter treats.

Plant the tree, love it and watch it grow. You won’t need to worry about too much fuss with the Yoinashi Asian Pear. It’s so easy to care for and only requires a little bit of pruning to keep it producing a huge harvest for years. Best of all, unlike other pear trees, this pear will ripen on the branch. When it’s ready, you can pluck it off and enjoy it immediately without having to wait for it to ripen.

The Yoinashi will give you more and more fruit every year. While the Yoinashi may start out giving you 5-15 lbs of fruit a year, a mature tree can deliver up to 400 lbs! The more love you give it over the years, the more it rewards you with delicious, juicy pears.

Give it sunshine and a little cold. The Yoinashi Asian Pear tree needs the full sun, but it also needs some time in the cold. Make sure to protect your pear tree in the frost, but let it soak up cooler temperatures when it’s between 32°-45° F.

This is a fruit tree that won’t overpower smaller yards. Growing to only 8′-15′, the Yoinashi Asian Pear tree won’t feel like a giant if you have a small garden.

The fancy white blooms in spring are gorgeous. Before your pears begin to grow, the Yoinashi Asian Pear tree will bloom beautiful white flowers with a pink center. The edges of the petals delicately curl inwards; you’ll be surprised at how fancy this fruit tree will look in your garden.

Yoinashi pears last a really long time. Compared to other fruits, once the Yoinashi have ripened and have been picked from the tree, you can simply keep them in your refrigerator and they won’t spoil for months. Most pears can stand up in the fridge for three months. Asian pears are especially durable and freeze wonderfully. Their dense pulp makes them easy to defrost when you’re ready to enjoy them in the off-season.

Yoinashi Asian Pears are the perfect “diet” fruit. With very low calories and very high fiber counts, you’ll feel full and satisfied without the guilt. The sweet, juicy treat is packed full of the nutritional benefits of Vitamin K, Copper and Potassium. Plus, it’s a hypoallergenic food that’s low in acidity. Sensitive eaters need not worry!

It will thrive with a friend. Plant another variety of Asian pear next to the Yoinashi and watch your harvest grown even more. Asian pear trees love having friends around to cross-pollinate with. You’ll get even more healthy fruit by buying more than one tree!

Start growing your sweet, juicy pears today. You don’t want to miss the opportunity to have this tempting fruit in your garden. With very little effort, you’ll get so much in return. Asian pear trees are becoming more popular each year, so don’t miss out on your chance to find out why!

Planting & Care

Planting Instructions: Plant your Yoinashi Asian Pear tree in a hole twice as wide and nearly as deep as the root’s ball. You’ll need to place it in a spot in your garden that gets full sun. If you get frost in the spring, be sure to cover your plant and provide a small heat source like a lamp. The Yoinashi will need around 400 hours of chill time in temperatures above freezing, but below 45°F. When you’re done planting, add 2″ of mulch near the base, but don’t mulch around the trunk. Be sure to plant in well-drained soil.

Watering: In your Yoinashi’s younger years, you’ll need to water it deeply once a week. As it matures, the summer rainfall will probably be sufficient. Re-mulch around your tree every Spring to help it retain moisture. If you have a dry summer, give your tree some extra water.

Fertilization: One month after planting, give your tree a half-pound of 10-10-10 fertilizer. You may need to give your tree a pound of fertilizer each year. If your tree is growing more than 2 ft’ a year then don’t add any more fertilizer.

Pruning: Pruning is essential for yielding the best results from the Yoinashi Asian Pear tree. Keep in mind that for pears, it is quality over quantity. Your tree may want to produce tons of pears, which is fine, but make sure they aren’t growing too close together. You want to keep 6 inches between each pear for the best results. Thin the limbs and branches as needed to prevent them from bearing too much weight.

Pollination: The Yoinashi Asian Pear tree will self-pollinate, but you’ll exponentially increase your yield if you plant it with another Asian Pear variety. For best results, space your trees 12′-15′ apart.

Fire Blight: If you live in a warm, wet climate, your tree will be susceptible to fire blight. To prevent this disease from spreading, keep an eye out for leaves and twigs that look burnt and scorched. Cut the limbs several inches above the visible disease and it will not spread to the rest of the tree.

Harvesting: The Yoinashi Asian Pear is easy to harvest. Once the fruit begins to firm and brown, it will probably be ripe. Ripe pears will easily break away from the tree with a simple twist. The best test, of course, is a taste test. The longer the fruit stays on the tree, the sweeter it becomes. There’s no need to treat the Yoinashi like a European Pear. It can fully ripen on the tree and be eaten immediately.
